Ella is currently most interested in playing queer roles in new work.

Ella's career as a director is informed by their over 10 years of working professionally in the theatre (as a performer, producer, dramaturg and collaborator). Ella was initially drawn to directing through intimacy director workshops and the Intimacy Director Movement led by Claire Warden. Ella has experience assisting and leading rehearsal rooms for productions and workshops of new plays in development as well as experience as an audition coach and acting teacher. They are determined to cultivate a process that prioritizes consent, collaboration, radical inclusion, and queering hierarchy. They are interested in stories that center queerness, gender as performance, and interrogation of whiteness. They are excited by magical realism, breath/movement work, and work that asks artists to risk something of themselves.

Ella's career as a producer began in response to the current administration as an effort to fundraise for organizations like the ACLU, RAICES, and Children of Promise within the NYC theatre community. Ella's producorial work prioritizes using socially-conscious theatre as a vehicle for tangible financial support of nonprofits and creating diverse representation.
